This school is held at specific seasonal periods, one every summer, and aims to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange and skills development in a multicultural environment. Its main objectives are:
Interdisciplinary approach
Online educational content, such as explanatory videos, infographics and articles, addressing topics related to AI and cybersecurity. This material could be shared on scientific dissemination platforms and social networks to reach a wider audience, and with the entire UGR-ADIA Lab network.
Multicultural environment
The school welcomes participants from diverse backgrounds, which creates an enriching and stimulating learning environment, including the UGR-ADIA Lab network, allowing to gain a global perspective and develop intercultural skills.
Intensive training programme
This combines keynote lectures, practical workshops, team-building sessions and networking activities. This gives participants the opportunity to acquire new skills, improve their research capacity and strengthen their collaboration skills in a fully immersive environment.
Collaboration on research projects
During the school, the formation of multidisciplinary working groups is encouraged. These groups will work on joint research projects, where they apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the training. This collaboration encourages the exchange of ideas, problem solving and the development of innovative solutions.

This International Summer School took place at the UGR AI building of the University of Granada, home to the DaSCI institute in the Granada Technology Park. The main learning objectives of the summer school were to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the key aspects of AI that contribute to building confidence in its applications. Through a series of lectures and examples, participants explored ethical considerations in AI, the principles of trust and safety, the detection and mitigation of bias, strategies to ensure fairness and address discrimination, as well as the importance of explainability in AI systems. In addition, participants delved into advanced topics such as causal AI and generative AI, understanding their implications for trustworthiness. Privacy and data governance, cybersecurity, and AI governance and regulation have been addressed, with an emphasis on their role in building trust. By the end of the summer school, participants have acquired the knowledge and tools necessary to design technically robust, ethically sound and trustworthy AI systems.
